Every day at Camp Cosmo is an adventure. What makes it so special? The kids decide what we do. Past Activities have included: Creative Crafts, Science Experiments, Super Dangly Earrings, Mini Bottle Rockets, Lemonade Stands, Talent Shows, Slime Lab, 3D Engineering, Dance Lessons, Camp Cosmo Land, Library Time, Shaving Cream Sumo Wrestling, Ceramics, Fashion Shows, Cooking, Boxing, Mani/Pedis, Filmmaking, Music Production, Pop-Up Shops and much much much more.
Our experienced counselors are always on hand to support the kids' imagination and creativity, to ensure safety, and to help resolve conflicts.
Schedule
We start each day with a morning meeting, while munching on the most delicious snacks and fruits. We present Activity options, and ask our campers for their ideas. Kids can sign up for 2-3 Activities per day, or they can choose Free Play (including building/crafting). Slime Lab is open daily after lunch. Water Play from 2-3.

DESTRUCTION STATION
Sometimes, destruction can be very constructive. Taking things apart and finding out what makes them tick is a great way to explore the world of machines.
Using real tools, campers are challenged to disassemble computers, keyboards, fax machines, printers, cameras, you name it. Sometimes this process takes hours or even days. But what they find inside is worth the wait - there are often many layers to discover, machines within machines within machines! Once the destruction is complete, campers recycle the parts for tinkering, art projects and even jewelry making. There are endless uses for all those interesting bits - who knows what the kids will invent next! (PS - We are always on the lookout for tech donations for our Destruction Station. Please bring your old, out of date technology to Camp Cosmo!) |

SLIME OF THE DAY
There's nothing like whipping up a batch of something ooey gooey and slimy (and maybe even smelly, or edible). Slime is a great way to integrate science and art into our senses. Every day, campers are invited to become a "slime-entists" at Camp Cosmo (but you don't have to make slime if you don't want to -- that's the beauty of Camp Cosmo).
In Slime Lab, we discuss the characteristics of non-Newtonian fluids, mix colors, explore texture, scent, and viscosity. And we do get messy. From fluffy slime to vintage ooblek to candy cane slime to edible slime and even thermochromatic slime, its amazing how many different kinds of slime there are in the world! |

JEWELRY MAKING & "CHANGE THE WORLD" POP-UP SHOP
Some years we host a pop-up shop, where campers sell the art, crafts, and jewelry they make at Camp Cosmo. Then, they have the chance to donate some of their earnings to charity. Camp Cosmo matches their donations.
One year we donated over $1000 to A Purposeful Rescue, an local animal rescue. We were all so proud of this contribution. Another reason our Jewelry Station is so special is our materials; vintage necklaces, earrings and bracelets are upcycled and remixed into jewelry the world has never seen before. |

WATERPLAY
On hot afternoons, we cool off with Waterplay. Water Balloon Baseball, Giant Water Blob, and our Build-Your-Own-Sprinkler, are just a few of the ways we have fun and stay cool with water.
At Camp Cosmo, kids have invented amazing water games like Duck & Jump, Human Dunk Bucket, Drip Drip Drop, and Shaving Cream Sumo Wrestling, which are now some of our most requested activities! |

SPECIALISTS
Throughout the summer, we bring in specialists to introduce new ideas to the camp. Sensei Joel Jimenez of Hanshi Karate played karate games with us. Alexa Fischer of WishBeads taught us to make paper beads with wishes hidden inside. Developmental Specialist Shak Okoebor from PS1 brought interactive games to help us get to know each other better. Amy Harrison from The Little Studio helped us create a mural. Danny Tieger of Story Pirates taught us how improv works and helped us write songs, including the Camp Bruno Theme Song (Camp Cosmo theme song is in the works...)!
If you have a special interest you'd like to share with Camp Cosmo, please contact Rachel. We'd love to have you! |
